Description
This class is a little more advanced that some of my other beginner workshops, and should be taken after completing Sewing 1, or after taking a few workshop classes where students have had the opportunity to learn and reinforce sewing basics. If you aren’t sure if you/your child are ready for this class, just shoot me a message and ask 😉
In this two-week class, students will learn new techniques that are often used in sewing, such as: ruffles, flat pockets, sewing curves, and lining. They will learn how to follow directions on a pattern and learn how to cut out properly. Students will need to provide their own fabric for this project. I recommend fabric that is 100% cotton (such as quilter’s cotton or cotton with prints); NO STRETCH/KNIT fabrics for this project!
If time allows, we will make a matching oven mitt to go with the apron (we will use the remaining material for this!)
BOYS: I have a few male students who might not appreciate all the ruffles 😉 We can definitely eliminate the ruffles so they can be included in this class 😉
Materials Needed:
- Main Fabric & Lining: 1 1/2 yards
- Ruffle & Waist Ties: 2/3 yard
- Pocket & Neck Straps: 1/2 yard
- Matching thread
*Don’t forget to prewash your fabric!
