By popular request, I am offering this very special mother-daughter workshop! Come with your daughter and make a matching maxi dress!! This is an intermediate level class, so students should have some experience before joining this class.

This is my very first time offering this workshop, so if I’m being completely honest, I don’t know exactly how long it will take to complete. I know how quick it would take me, but not sure for a whole class 😉 I have selected 2 very simple patterns to choose from and the goal is to finish within 3 hours. There are so many cute dress pattern options, but I’m trying to be realistic in what we can get done in a short amount of time 😉
- The first pattern option is called the “Tee dress”. It’s simple and follows the basic shape of a t-shirt. I like that it can be worn casual, with tennis shoes, or you can dress it up easily with a pair of pumps!
2. The second option is called the “Slow Sunday” dress. It has more of an a-line style skirt. Don’t be thrown off by the wild print of my dress (this was a dress I made for a 60’s party, lol). It’s very quick to sew and has a fun, twirly shape! You can choose from a short sleeve or long sleeve option.
It would be best to choose your own fabric; Joann Fabrics is still open until at least May and their fabrics are on clearance. Hobby Lobby also has a small selection of fabric. It MUST be a knit fabric. That means it will stretch. Some good knits include: double brush poly (my favorite!), ponte de roma, jersey, jersey interlock, cotton spandex…to name a few. Feel free to text me any questions you have while selecting material! I would recommend getting 4 yards (2 for each dress) to be safe.
I do highly recommend purchasing sewing clips when using knit fabrics. Regular sewing pins can leave holes in the fabric if you’re not careful, so I always use clips when I sew with knits. Students should also get a jersey or ballpoint needle for their machine.
Instructions on registering: Adding one to your cart means that you are adding one mother/daughter combo. Please do not add one for you and one for your daughter. Also, the pricing reflects the cost for both mother and daughter together.
