I Need Your Vote!

Hello and Happy Monday!!

I did another thing. I guess this year is all about taking chances! A couple week ago I started my YouTube channel, and now this; I entered a sewing contest! My fear of failure often times holds me back from doing things like this, but this year I am daring to dream and right now I am dreaming about winning a new serger sewing machine and a $250 fabric shopping spree!! I already know what I want to sew if I win the contest…which is scary to say [write] out loud because it’s that much more disappointing if I don’t win. But you never know unless you try!

So here’s the deal. Voting opened up today and you can vote everyday between now and December 3rd. To be honest, I don’t really care for these “vote everyday” contests because I feel like it becomes more of a contest about who has the most time on their hands to sit and vote everyday (and create alternate email address to keep voting, which they ask you not to do but I’m sure people do anyway). At any rate, I’ve decided to give this a go. If I don’t win the “people’s choice” award (by popular vote) there’s still a chance that I could win as a Grand Jury Winner (a jury will select 3 winners, one from each category). I figured I’d do all I can to increase my chances of winning!!

Here’s a couple pictures of my pillow. I entered it in the home décor category. Isn’t it cute? I embroidered a piece of white linen fabric (I buy all my linen from fabric-store.com, the store hosting this contest!) using the applique method on the trees. I sewed the linen into a pillow cover, adding an invisible zipper along the bottom. I also decided to add the black plaid ruffle to give it more personality. I kind of wish I’d done the ruffle a little bigger (I had a different ruffle idea in mind originally) but overall I’m very happy with how it turned out. I can’t wait to put it out for Christmas (gotta let the turkey have his holiday first!!)

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to vote!! Please check back and vote everyday until December 3rd!!
